Who We Are

La Casita Casita is a Latinx-led, feminist led non-profit in Louisville, KY accompanying the Latinx community. Our mission is to empower individuals and families in this community, providing a foundation for systemic change with long-term effects.

La Casita Center was founded in 2005 when a small group of concerned women, which included social workers, teachers, mothers, and members of religious communities, recognized a growing need for the community building and access to services, education, and support in the Latinx community. La Casita Center provides support and empowerment based on the needs of the community, using a ground-up strategy to help the Latinx community access services and overcome barriers.

Our vision embraces the accompaniment model, an evidence based practice focused on empowering individuals to make changes in their own lives. La Casita uses accompaniment to address systemic issues through community care that is trauma informed and rooted in equity and accessibility.  We take a holistic approach that works for the whole person or family to ensure all needs are met. This multifaceted approach directly impacts the most vulnerable among us through direct service provision, such as our food pantry and clothing closet, as well as through the extension of community services via collaborative initiatives with community partners.

What We Do

La Casita Center enhances the well-being of Louisville's Latinx community through education, empowerment, advocacy, and wellness. La Casita Center works intentionally to build a thriving community based on mutual support and respect. Our programming is diverse - you name it, we do it! Our programming falls under the following umbrellas: Accompaniment and Advocacy, Hospitality and Solidarity, Health Empowerment, Legal Clinic services, Mental Health, and Child Enrichment. The programming we offer supports the community across the life span, and in all aspects of living, from accompaniment to medical appointments, to sharing food and clothing, and everything in between.
