Who We Are
At Portland Festival, Inc., our mission is to bring people together through inclusive, community-driven events that celebrate the spirit and diversity of Portland. We envision a unified and thriving community where these public events and fundraising efforts support the thoughtful renovation of community spaces, such as our historic Portland Festival building, to foster enduring connections, cultural enrichment, and civic pride. The Portland Festival is a deep-rooted Louisville tradition now in its 52nd year. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, the festival is built by neighbors and enjoyed by all, embodying the identity of being "by the community, for the community". Our primary focus is showcasing the energy and heart of one of Louisville's oldest neighborhoods through high-energy events like the annual Portland Parade and the "Best of the West" stage. Every dollar we raise serves a dual purpose: first, to ensure this long-standing tradition remains alive for future generations ; and second, to fund our long-term goal of restoring our historic building at 3329 Northwestern Parkway. We aim to transform this site into a year-round community hub that serves as a permanent anchor for the neighborhood.
What We Do
We achieve our vision through several key programs and activities: The Annual Portland Festival: A multi-day event featuring a parade, live music, and local makers that draws over 15,000 attendees. The 'Best of the West' Stage: A dedicated space specifically designed to spotlight the soul of the community and the West End's finest performers. Community Restoration: Directing festival proceeds toward the rehabilitation of our 3329 Northwestern Parkway facility. Volunteer Engagement: Maintaining a grassroots structure where community members lead the planning, management, and execution of all activities.
