PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers will assist elderly and/or disabled homeowners with exterior painting, minor home repairs, and yard work.
Repair Affair assists homeowners who are low income, elderly and/or permanently disabled with addressing their home repairs and safety needs to help them stay in their homes. Focus is on improving safety, accessibility and addressing minor homeowner code violations so that the homeowner can remain in their home and age in place.
Through the use of volunteers, not only will homeowners receive assistance with their home and yard but also an opportunity to interact socially with the volunteers, Many of the homeowners assisted have limited social interactions and this could provide a bright spot in their day.
DAY OF ACTION IMPACT:
Metro United Way’s Day of Action launched in 2018 to harness the spirit and power of volunteers, bringing corporate teams together to take on some of our community’s toughest challenges. Over the last five years, 2000 volunteers from 105 companies have completed 130 projects in seven counties in two states.
