Description

Objective: To assess the contents of our three storage units (201 E Market Street, 4100 Cane Run Rd, Hill Street) and categorize items for programming, sale, or donation to other organizations. Volunteers will meet at one of these locations. Please indicate in the notes which location you can meet us at.

Inventory Assessment:

    • Each team of volunteers will be assigned to one storage unit.
    • Volunteers will thoroughly examine the contents of their assigned storage unit.
    • They will identify items based on the following categories:
  • Categorization:
    • Utilization for Programming: Identify items that can be utilized for upcoming programs/events. Examples include potential gifts and office supplies for the State of Black Food Summit, baby and child items for Tribe Time, toys for Bless the Block, hygiene items for Feed the West.
    • Items for Sale: Identify furniture or art pieces that can be sold.
    • Items for Donation: Identify items that can be given away to other organizations.
  • Documentation:
    • Volunteers will take pictures of each item or group of items.
    • These pictures will be organized in a Google spreadsheet or folder.
    • Ensure each item is clearly labeled with its location (Market Street, Cane Run, Hill Street).

Instructions for Volunteers:

  • Split into teams with 2-3 volunteers per team
  • Discuss the categorization criteria and ensure everyone understands the task.
  • Prioritize thoroughness and accuracy in identifying items.
  • Take clear and descriptive photos of each item or group of items.
  • Coordinate with team members to cover all areas of the storage units efficiently.
