The Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods is organizing a volunteer opportunity at the Salvation Army on Monday, April 24th from 5:30PM-8:00PM. The Salvation Army is located at 911 S. Brook St, Louisville, Ky 40203 (The Old Male High School). Please park directly off Brook St and use the sidewalk to enter the building through the front main entrance (Red Doors facing I-65). Before we begin volunteering, we will take a tour, so volunteers are able to see all of the programs firsthand! A few of the opportunities that we could be assisting with are listed below.
- (Red Kettle Café) Serving Meals in our community kitchen is a rewarding activity for individuals, community groups, co-workers, or families. Volunteers are needed to help serve breakfast and dinner every day. This involves helping to prepare food and clean up afterwards.
2(Clothing Closet) The Salvation Army Center of Hope maintains a large clothing closet open to clients and the homeless community. Volunteers are needed to sort donated items and keep the clothing in order.
3 (Making Food Boxes) Volunteers are needed to make food boxes used to distribute grocery items for families, children, seniors, and individuals at risk of hunger.
4 (Cleaning/Organizing) Site upkeep can be a hefty job! Volunteers are needed to help clean and prepare our Emergency Family Housing Units for families to move into facility.
