Join us for the 5th annual, Greatest Give Back, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, hosted by the Muhammad Ali Center and Metro United Way(MUW)!
Volunteers at The Greatest Give Back will work in two shifts to fill backpacks and hygiene kits that will be distributed to local nonprofit agencies across MUW's seven-county service area in Kentucky and Southern Indiana - giving the greatest gift of all – service to others.
2500 Back to School Backpacks - 10:00 -11:30 am - 250 volunteers
2500 Personal Hygiene Kits - 2:00 -3:30pm - 250 volunteers
Help us “TKO the need” by participating in The Greatest Care from 2:00 - 3:30pm p.m. Volunteers will decorate a drawstring backpack (no art skills necessary - we make it easy for for everyone to create a great bag!) and fill it with personal hygiene items, the basic supplies our neighbors need to care for themselves including shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste and more.
Basic hygiene goes to the core of self-worth, self-respect, confidence and dignity. With hygiene poverty comes isolation, exclusion and shame and these impact our ability to participate in society and therefore what it means to be human.
We are working, UNITED, with you to the Greater Louisville region is a place where zip code doesn’t determine destiny and everyone has the opportunity to live up to their full potential.

The Greatest Give Back is a signature event of the annual Ali Festival, a weeklong celebration that marks the anniversary of the passing of The People’s Champ. In honor of Ali’s legacy of humanitarianism, volunteers engage in service projects throughout the day, fulfilling Ali’s life-long commitment to service to others and demonstrating that Louisville is a truly compassionate city.
