The Love Your Neighborhood Initiative focuses on community development and repair through partnerships with homeowners and community stakeholders. LYN strengthens and uplifts the dynamic amongst individual pride, community engagement, and neighborhood livability by creating a safer and healthier environment.
Volunteers will be participating on a Love Your Neighborhood community clean up project in the Russell Neighborhood! The anticipated tasks for volunteers include trash pick up, cutting back fence overgrowth, and mulching.
Habitat provides all of the tools and materials needed for the day's tasks. A water jug will be available onsite.
If you have tested positive or been exposed to COVID within 10 days of the event day, please do not come to the event.
Please travel first to Quinn Chapel AME to check in between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Please arrive to your jobsite by 9 a.m. for a safety briefing and to begin the tasks the day.
Lunch for the day is provided and will be served at the registration location at Quinn Chapel. You may want to bring a camp chair for seating at lunch.
If people are not fully vaccinated, masks are required. Habitat will have extras for those in need of one.
For this shift, volunteers must:
- bring a water bottle to refill throughout the day.
- wear closed-toe shoes.
- dress for the weather.
- bring sunscreen, bugspray, and a hat.
- practice physical distancing of 6 feet when possible while working and at lunch.
Spots are limited! If you need to cancel your shift, please do so with enough notice to recruit another volunteer.
Volunteers should wash hands frequently and cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing. Hand sanitizer will be available.
We encourage everyone to bring their own masks and gloves, but Habitat will have these onsite.
